Don’t Ignore The Games Controller When Deciding On Computer Games Systems

There can’t be many people who do not know the big three video games systems that are so popular around the world. Everyone compares the PS3 with the Wii and with the Xbox 360 and we only think in terms of the graphics capability but we should think about the involvement you feel by using the controllers supplied.

Controller design is something the games machine manufacturers spend a lot of money on designing them and here we look at how they compare. The Xbox first appeared back in 2001 and the controller that came as part of the bundle supplied is now commonly known as the Duke Controller.

Microsoft was quick to discover that the Duke was far too large and bulky and it hurt people’s hands. In response they quickly released a different design which was more acceptable to the public and is more like the 360 controller you get today.

The the Xbox 360 version is now probably the most comfortable and one which you are happy to play with. The Playstation 3 controller in use today is not as new as it first seems to be.

There are not that many changes to the controller for the PS2 with some changes internally. When it first came out there was another controller supplied which looked different and had a new control layout was soon abandoned.

The talk is that the controller didn’t work as well as the one we had been using for years on the PS2. The right descision may have been made in the end but Sony will have to get it right when they release their next games platform.

The current controls are ok to use but a new system will mean people expect high standards with the control systems in any new games console released. There are fewer customers with spare money these days and it may be we will have to wait some time so we may have to be patient to get what we want.

Finally we look at the controllers we get with the Wii games system which are a breath of fresh air. The wii bundle comes with a wiimote and this being very different is nothing like older and more established console controllers.

The designers were thinking outside the box with the wiimote with a novel and a completely original approach to the idea of how we could control the games we like to play. The wiimote is a greater change than anything else we have seen introduced on games systems in the last two decades.

We should be grateful for the wonderful way this technology has been developed and is being used to add to your enjoyment and I feel sure this is the future direction for computer games. When the Wii bundles were first released hardened gamers dismissed the power of the computer chips inside but they failed to notice what a significant change the wii brought with it’s controllers.

Gamers everywhere will be looking forward to whatever the eighth generation of and if price is no problem these are the ones to get. It seems likely they will be not very different from the wiimote and it seems likely we can only guess at the new developments and what they will do for gaming.
